Australia’s University of Adelaide has selected EcoSys EPC for its capital program management software. Through EcoSys EPC, the University will gain an efficient, web-based system for program cost controls including capital planning, budgeting, forecasting, funds management and performance measurement.

EcoSys, the industry leader in enterprise planning and cost controls software, announced today that the University of Adelaide will use EcoSys EPC (Enterprise Planning & Controls) to manage its Capital Management Plan (CPM) and provide performance measurement for current capital projects. The CPM directs capital improvement and maintenance projects across the University’s four campuses and has a budget of nearly AUS$100 million for 2011. The implementation of EcoSys EPC will be managed by Fortior Global, an integrated project controls consulting firm and authorized Australian reseller of EcoSys EPC software.

Easy-to-use, web-based capital planning software, EcoSys EPC will improve the efficiency of capital allocation for current projects and within the 5-year capital plan. Using EPC, the University will manage budgets and forecasts, revisions and changes, and realize a more timely and accurate view of project costs versus budget and income. EPC will track multiple sources of funding for projects, their allocations and remaining balances. The system will also be used for trend analysis, auditing changes and performing Earned Value Management (EVM).

Previously, the University of Adelaide used Microsoft® Excel® to create the CPM. This was a cumbersome, labor intensive process prone to data entry errors. With enterprise-level workflow and process controls, EcoSys EPC will significantly lower the risks of data loss or corruption and single person dependency.

EcoSys EPC will integrate with the University’s PeopleSoft® general ledger and Oracle® Primavera® P6 project management software to create an automated platform for data analysis and reporting thus providing real-time visibility into project performance. This integrated approach will shift resources from data collection and collation to higher value activities such as data analysis and forecasting. Further, by eliminating the manual processing of data from different systems, EPC will improve the overall accuracy of data and reports.
